He was a German army officer of rank oberstleutanant. His uncle was Field Marshal Gunther VON kluge. He was arrested in Belgrade for the involvement in 20 July plot to assassinate Hitler. he was tried by people's court and sentenced to death on 30 August 1944 and he was hanged same day in Plotzensee prison
