875 Erwin plank
Erwin Plank was the
son of the world famous Physicist Max Plank. He was a politician and was a Nazi
resistance fighter. When invasion of Poland was on cards, Plank and his
associates brought the matte to the knowledge of Wilhelm Kietel through another
Wehrmacht senior officer. The General assured them that no such action was
being contemplated.They feared that Germany would be drawn into a world war
that it could not win due to huge supply problems. Erwin plank worked in
association with resistance leaders Popitz , Ulrich Hassen and Goerdler and he
was arrested after failure of plot on 20 July 1944. He was sentenced to death
in a show trial at peoples court by Freisler and his famous father Max Plank ( Nobel Laurette) applied in
vain to Hitler for mercy. But, he was executed on 23 Jan 1945 at Poltzee prison
in Berlin .
